We are hoping that the New Year will bring a variety of new discounts for services at Walmart Tire and Lube Express. 2012 wasn’t the greatest for finding the best deal on auto care services at Walmart. Most deals were in the form of DIY oil change discounts or what Walmart calls, Rollbacks.
Right now, I’m finding some specials again on quarts of motor oil as well as oil filters.
As for my special trick, it involves the Walmart price match policy.
The Walmart website has the following regarding their price match guarantee:
We’re committed to providing low prices every day. On everything. So if you find a lower advertised price on an identical product, tell us and we’ll match it. Right at the register.
We gladly match the price in the following types of ads:*
- Buy one, get one free ads with a specified price
- Example: Buy one for $2.49, get one free (BOGO)
- Competitors’ ads that feature a specific item for a specified price
- Preferred shopping card prices for specific items that are in a printed ad
- For fresh produce and meat items when the price is offered in the same unit type (lb. for lb.; each for each)
*The following are guidelines and limitations:
- We will match any local competitor’s advertised price.
- We do not require customers to have the ad with them to honor a competitor’s ad.
- Items purchased must be identical to the ad (size, quantity, brand, flavor, color, etc.)
With that being said, I believe that you can bring in a local coupon found in a Pennysaver or other local newspaper with a discounted oil change. You will however need the coupon to state what kind of motor oil and filter is provided. The coupon below would be a good example, except it is printed off of the internet so it probably would not be honored. It does list the type of oil being used though, so look for discounts like the one below.
Walmart is usually pretty good on honoring these types of deals, so it is definitely worth the try. Leave me a comment and let me know if it works out for you.
